Call for digital identity in Turkey: Security against cyberbullying

Opac Global executive Kerem Albayrak stated in his remarks at an artificial intelligence conference held on May 17, 2025, that uncontrolled internet anonymity poses serious risks in many areas, such as cyberbullying and illegal activities. Albayrak expressed that for Turkey to prevent this situation, it must transition to a comprehensive digital identity system.

Albayrak noted that the proposed digital identity system should be integrated with biometric verification and device registration, stating that this system is inevitable for social stability and security. He also pointed out that AI-supported disinformation and anonymous accounts on social media platforms increase cyberbullying and social polarization.

Emphasizing that this system is compatible with the e-Devlet (e-Government) and SIM card technologies currently available in Turkey and highlighting its feasibility, Albayrak added that the solution does not conflict with the Personal Data Protection Law (KVKK).

The system can be designed in an encrypted and secure manner, making it compatible with the World Economic Forum's (WEF) 2030 vision.
