China launches its first commercial satellite
China has sent the world's first commercial "hyper-satellite" powered by artificial intelligence technology into orbit.
According to a report by China Global Television Network (CGTN), the satellite named "Xingshidai-18" (Rongpiao) was launched by a Smart Dragon-3 (SD-3) rocket from off the coast of Yangjiang city in China's southern Guangdong province at 11:06 local time, via the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center.
The rocket, which also carried Egypt's NExSat-1 satellite, was sent into orbit.
Produced by the Guoxing Aerospace Technology Company, the "Xingshidai-18" satellite became the first commercial satellite powered by artificial intelligence to be sent into Earth's orbit.
