Speaking at the Bilişim 500 Awards ceremony, Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Ömer Fatih Sayan stated that Turkey's efforts to strengthen its digital infrastructure are continuing without slowing down. Sayan announced that the 5G tender will be held in the coming months and that 5G will become widespread across the country in 2026.

Touching upon the importance of data centers and fiber investments to consolidate Turkey's role in the digital economy, Sayan noted that the number of broadband subscribers has exceeded 96 million and the fiber infrastructure has surpassed 605 thousand kilometers. He stated that these developments demonstrate Turkey's determination in the digitalization process.

Sayan emphasized that building a digital infrastructure strengthened by domestic and national technologies is their primary goal. In this context, he stated that they are focusing on local solutions in the transition process to 5G and beyond technologies. Saying, "We cannot be fully independent with someone else's technology," Sayan stated that Turkey must rise with its own technologies.

Announcing that preparations for 6G technologies have also begun, Sayan stated that the work in this field is progressing with concrete steps rather than rhetoric. He expressed that these steps taken for Turkey's digital future support the goal of providing equal and fair digital access to every point in the country.
