Date set: Google Podcasts app is shutting down

Google will be shutting down one of its popular applications, Google Podcasts, in the new year.

In a notification sent to users from Google Podcasts, it was stated that there will be no changes for the time being and that the app can be used as usual. It was noted that the Google Podcasts service will be fully integrated into YouTube and YouTube Music in 2024.

According to the report on Teknloblog; immediately after Google announced its decision to pull the plug on its podcasts app, a statement also came from YouTube. The statement indicated that investments in podcasts will increase significantly in 2024.

EASE OF TRANSITION TO YOUTUBE MUSIC WILL BE PROVIDED

As reported by Shifdelete.net; certain conveniences will be provided to users who have subscriptions or downloads on Google Podcasts. Chief among these are various transfer tools. Users will be able to transfer their subscriptions, playlists, and listening history from the Podcasts app to YouTube Music.

If you do not wish to transfer to Music, you will be able to download your podcast archive. This means you can access them with the help of different podcast players without using YouTube Music.

On the other hand, content creators will also be directed entirely to YouTube. It will be possible to upload podcasts to YouTube Music as video and RSS feeds. However, a guarantee was given that all features in the Podcasts app will be offered on YouTube.
