Users reported that their newly purchased iPhone 15s experienced high temperatures during short-term use, and that the phones became too hot to hold while charging or performing high-performance tasks.

After investigating the issue and subsequently acknowledging that there was indeed an overheating problem, Apple announced that it would release a new update and that the issue would be resolved via a software update.

The update promised by Apple, iOS 17.0.3, was made available to all iPhones that support iOS 17. The notes for the update, which was released in a small size, included the following details:

''This update provides important bug fixes, security updates, and addresses an issue that may cause iPhone to run warmer than intended.''

It was reported that the overheating issue, which caused iPhone 15 Pro models to exceed 40 degrees before the update, has been resolved. But how was performance affected by this situation?

According to tests conducted, the iPhone 15 Pro Max scored 2,914 points in single-core tests and 7,199 points in multi-core tests on Geekbench 6 with iOS 17.0.2.

In tests conducted immediately after the update, the single and multi-core results were 2,875 points and 7,006 points, respectively. Later, the test was performed again, and the iPhone 15 Pro Max's score rose to 2,941 points in single-core tests and 7,523 points in multi-core tests.

In other words, with this update, Apple both solved the overheating problem and provided an increase in performance. Although it is not yet known how this was achieved, there have been no users reporting issues after installing the update so far.

Installing the update is recommended. This is because some applications such as Instagram and Uber cause overheating on iPhone 15 Pro models, and Apple is in close contact with other app developers regarding this matter. If the overheating issue persists in the future, another new update may be released.
