Domestic artificial intelligence platform 'MAIN' introduced

The introduction of the domestic artificial intelligence platform 'MAIN', developed by HAVELSAN, took place at the Artificial Intelligence Conference held at the company's Technology Campus.

HAVELSAN Business Development Director Arif Furkan Mendi stated in his speech at the event that MAIN is a Turkish-based artificial intelligence platform.

Expressing that they have set ensuring the security of institutional data as their primary mission, Mendi said, "By introducing our own artificial intelligence assistant, we will prevent data from leaving the premises. With our original architecture, we compiled open-source data to create our own model. We have no dependency on any external software or product. We offer a secure environment where our own data is kept entirely."

Explaining that they have created an infrastructure that institutions can utilize with this platform, Mendi said, "We emphasize that this is not a platform open to end-users. We are talking about a product aimed at corporate use. However, this is just a beginning. Many startups and entrepreneurs can build their own ventures from here. They can take our product and take it to different points."

Mendi noted that young entrepreneurs, in particular, can follow the "vizyonergenc.com" website to obtain information about the work being done.

HAVELSAN Artificial Intelligence Technologies Group Leader Berkan Demirel also expressed his pride in the team that developed the platform, stating that there has been a need for generative artificial intelligence technologies in Turkey in recent years, particularly in the public and military sectors, just as there is all over the world.

Stating that people frequently exchange information in this field, Demirel commented, "At this point, we believed that the public sector and the military should also benefit from such technology."

Sharing what happened during the first meeting regarding the process, Demirel spoke as follows:

"When we presented this R&D project, normally a vote is taken: should this project proceed or not? An event occurred there where they showed serious vision and determination, saying, 'Friends, this is essential, it must be done.' We started with a small team, and we continue to grow and move forward."

HAVELSAN Deputy General Manager of Information and Communication Technologies Ömer Özkan also announced that they would implement two projects related to the platform.

Stating that the second "HAVELSAN Express" train, which the institution uses for its hackathon events, will take place in the last week of April, Özkan noted the following:

"We held the first hackathon in 2022. We went from Ankara to Siirt-Kurtalan with the Kurtalan Express. There, we subjected university seniors to a competition. This year, we will go from Ankara to Ahlat, where we open the gates of Anatolia, to carry out development on the MAIN platform. We are organizing programs with universities along this route. Thus, we are increasing our cooperation with universities. We also provide employment from the universities we visit."

Özkan underlined that the MAIN Academy project will also be implemented this year, saying, "We will create a space here for students and professionals who want to conduct artificial intelligence studies. At the same time, we will provide training."

Özkan stated that the process began as an R&D project 1 year ago.

Pointing out that they have created an infrastructure to meet the specific needs of institutions, Özkan said, "This infrastructure of ours will be a structure that can meet the needs of both military and public institutions as well as the private sector from now on, processing the data they use in their internal processes securely within a closed network."

Özkan said that the platform in question could be used in institutions affiliated with the Presidency, in the Presidency's Directorate of Communications for the process of evaluating CİMER applications, and in various areas of the Revenue Administration. Özkan said, "Our main goal, especially in the evaluation process of CİMER applications, is to ensure that the application made here is quickly forwarded to the correct channel and that the citizen can receive an answer quickly."

Explaining that they have been carrying out digital transformation work as a company for 25 years, Özkan added that they attach importance to cooperating with universities.
