Elon Musk has filed a lawsuit against OpenAI! Musk, the CEO of SpaceX and Tesla, argues that his former company, OpenAI, has deviated from its mission of "artificial intelligence for the benefit of humanity" and has become profit-oriented.
SpaceX and Tesla owner Elon Musk has filed a lawsuit against OpenAI CEO Sam Altman.
Musk alleged that the company has violated its mission to develop artificial intelligence for the benefit of humanity rather than for profit. In the lawsuit filed yesterday, it was argued that Altman and OpenAI co-founder Greg Brockman originally approached Musk to create a non-profit company.
According to Reuters, Elon Musk's lawyers stated that the profit-driven focus of the company, which is backed by Microsoft (MSFT.O), violates this agreement. The lawyers, who applied to the judiciary in San Francisco, argued that the company keeps the design of its most advanced artificial intelligence model, GPT-4, completely confidential.
Although Musk was among the founders of OpenAI in 2015, he left the company's board of directors in 2018. In 2023, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman was himself removed from his position by the company's former board of directors. The board had claimed that it was upholding the company's mission to develop artificial intelligence that would benefit humanity. Altman later returned to the company's management.
