Elon Musk issues threat-like statement against Apple's AI move

Musk shared a post on his X social media account regarding Apple's collaboration with ChatGPT developer OpenAI, which was announced at the company's developer conference, WWDC.

Stating that Apple devices would be banned at his companies if they integrate OpenAI at the operating system level, Musk said, "This is an unacceptable security violation."

Musk noted that visitors to his company would also be required to surrender their Apple devices at the door, adding that the devices would be stored in a Faraday cage.

"CLEARLY ABSURD"

Criticizing Apple for relying on OpenAI instead of developing its own artificial intelligence application, Musk remarked, "It is clearly absurd that Apple isn't smart enough to make their own AI, yet is somehow capable of ensuring that OpenAI will protect your security and privacy.

Apple has no idea what is actually going on once they hand your data over to OpenAI."

Apple had announced today that its smart personal assistant, Siri, would be able to access the chatbot ChatGPT when necessary, and that the integration with ChatGPT would arrive later this year in iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia.

Sam Altman, CEO of ChatGPT developer OpenAI, also shared on his social media account, "Very happy to partner with Apple to integrate ChatGPT into their devices later this year! I think you'll really like it."
