Elon Musk to charge new X users a fee for posting!
Elon Musk is taking a new step to solve the bot problem on the X platform: New users will have to pay a fee to post on the platform.
It has been confirmed by Elon Musk, the owner of the X platform, that new users will be required to pay a fee before they can post. Musk stated that this step is necessary to solve the bot problem on the platform and that previous measures taken have proven insufficient.
According to a report in Nairametrics, Musk stated that requiring new users to pay for write access is the only way to curb bot attacks. He noted that artificial intelligence and troll farms are able to bypass existing security measures, but he did not provide information regarding the timing of the implementation or the amount of the fee.
Last October, X began charging unverified new users in New Zealand and the Philippines an annual fee of 1 dollar. These users were able to read posts on the platform but could not interact with them.
Elon Musk announced last week that the process of cleaning up bot accounts and trolls on the social media platform has begun and that millions of accounts have been suspended. He also declared that the owners of accounts identified as bots would be pursued and that legal action would be initiated. This step follows complaints from users and advertisers regarding bots.
Bots can be defined as non-human users on the X platform that do not require moderation. Musk stated that the cleanup of bots and trolls is ongoing and that legitimate accounts suspended by mistake should be reported to him or Xeng. Musk expressed that X Corp will pursue those responsible and use the full force of the law.
Due to increasing complaints about bot activity on the platform, Musk has been driven to take measures that may reduce celebrations of user growth. Bots are capable of performing actions on the X platform such as liking, reposting, following, and sending messages to other users' posts. Musk had previously criticized X as a platform for bots and accused its former owners of inflating bot numbers.
