Elon Musk's AI Grok joins the US military

The xAI company, owned by Elon Musk, is integrating its artificial intelligence chatbot, Grok, into the military through a 200 million dollar deal with the US Department of Defense. This agreement covers the development and implementation of AI-based tools.

The Pentagon plans to use these tools in warfare, intelligence, and data monitoring operations.

Grok had previously sparked controversy in recent weeks due to statements containing insults directed at world leaders and praise for Nazism. Following these incidents, it was announced that an update had been made to Grok to resolve the issues, and the new version began to be offered for 300 dollars per month.

Dr. Doug Matty, the Department of Defense's chief digital and artificial intelligence officer, stated that integrating commercial solutions would allow artificial intelligence to be used more quickly in combat missions. The department has also signed similar contracts with other major AI firms such as Google, Anthropic, and OpenAI.

While this deal creates a significant revenue stream for Elon Musk's xAI company, it also provides an opportunity to compete with rival firms like OpenAI, led by Sam Altman. It is known that Musk has previously encouraged the use of Grok in government agencies under the name "Department of Government Efficiency."
