EU launches investigation into popular shopping platform Temu

The European Union has launched an official investigation into the online sales platform Temu, raising concerns regarding the sale of illegal products

The European Commission has expressed concerns that Temu may be violating the Digital Services Act, stating that the platform's current systems fail to effectively prevent scammers.

EUROPE WARNS TEMU

Launched in April 2023, the online sales platform Temu reached 100 million users in a short period. However, it is alleged that the platform has a structure that allows previously suspended fraudulent sellers to resume operations.

Concerns in countries such as Germany, Denmark, and Ireland are fueling debates over counterfeit goods and products that pose health risks sold on Temu. The European Commission points out that this situation does not comply with legal obligations.

Although Temu has made commitments to comply with the Digital Services Act (DSA), it is noted that the company could face heavy fines in the event of any violation.
