Father's facial features determine the child's gender
A study conducted at the University of Michigan shows that fathers' facial features may influence the gender of their first child.
Scientists from the University of Michigan, by examining 104 pairs of parents who have at least one child, have revealed that fathers' facial features may play a role in determining the gender of their children.
In the study, photographs of the parents' faces were taken, and these photos were evaluated by university students in terms of attractiveness, dominance, and the gender characteristics of the face.
THE RATE INCREASES UP TO 83 PERCENT
According to the results of the study, the probability of the first child being a boy increases by 83 percent for fathers whose faces are evaluated as more dominant. This finding remains valid regardless of factors such as the father's age, attractiveness, or the masculine appearance of his face. However, no similar relationship was found between mothers' facial dominance and child gender.
Zubaly, from the research team, summarized their findings by saying, "We found that fathers with more dominant facial expressions are more likely to have a first child who is a boy."
Furthermore, the theory that women having high testosterone levels during pregnancy may be linked to the probability of giving birth to a boy was also addressed in the study. In this case, women preferring dominant-looking men can indirectly increase the likelihood of having a boy.
Among famous names, it is noteworthy that those with more dominant facial features, such as Tom Hardy, Russell Crowe, and Jason Statham, had boys as their first children. On the other hand, there are also celebrities with less dominant facial features, such as Zayn Malik and Keith Urban. This research offers a new perspective for understanding the effect of facial features on child gender.
