First penalty for ad blocker users on YouTube

YouTube has been working for some time to restrict those using ad blockers. It recently saw the results of this effort and announced that sanctions would be coming for those using 'blockers.' The first penalty implemented by YouTube is that videos watched by people using ad blockers load more slowly.

'SLOWDOWN' SANCTION FOR AD BLOCKER USERS ON YOUTUBE

The company's latest effort to increase the revenue it earns through advertisements has been to 'restrict people using ad blocker applications.' In this context, those who prefer to use the Mozilla Firefox browser have begun to encounter the first punitive measures.

Users have started experiencing issues not only with YouTube videos opening slowly but also with pages loading late. The same individuals stated that they did not encounter such a problem when they opened YouTube with Google Chrome.

Google's statement on the matter was as follows:

“In order to support a diverse ecosystem of creators globally and allow billions to access their favorite content on YouTube, we’ve launched an effort to urge viewers with ad blockers enabled to allow ads on YouTube or try YouTube Premium for an ad-free experience. Users who have installed ad blockers may experience suboptimal viewing, regardless of the browser they are using.”
