IBM takes a stand against X! Suspends all advertising

IBM has decided to withdraw from X after its advertisements were placed alongside pro-Nazi content on the platform. The company announced that it has suspended all advertising on the network after Media Matters reported that ads from IBM and several other tech giants were appearing next to pro-Nazi memes and other posts supporting Hitler.

According to the report by Chip, the company stated, "IBM has zero tolerance for hate speech and discrimination, and we have suspended all advertising on X while we investigate this unacceptable situation." Comcast, whose ads were also highlighted by Media Matters, told the Financial Times that it is investigating the situation.

THOSE IMAGES WILL NOT BE MONETIZED IF DETECTED

An executive from X told Engadget that the posts identified by Media Matters will no longer be monetized and will appear with "sensitive media" labels that require users to click a warning message to view the content.

It is unclear how many advertising campaigns are affected by IBM's decision to suspend ads. However, the withdrawal of another high-profile company from the platform, even if temporary, deals another blow to the company's already battered advertising business.

In a post published on X, CEO Linda Yaccarino did not directly refer to IBM or the Media Matters report, but said that everyone should put an end to discrimination.
