New claims regarding the schedule and pricing for Microsoft's next-generation Xbox console have come to the fore. A report sourced from Fortune states that the flagship console, currently referred to as Project Helix, is not expected to hit the market before late 2028.
With about six years having passed since the introduction of the Xbox Series X/S family, gamers have been wondering when the next-generation console would arrive. According to the leak reported by Webtekno, it is considered likely that Microsoft will introduce the new device around November or December 2028. This points to a waiting period of at least two years for the transition from the current generation to the next.
SUBSIDY WILL BE THE DETERMINING FACTOR IN PRICE
One of the most striking points in the report was the price. According to the claim, if Microsoft does not subsidize the hardware cost for the consumer, the retail price of Project Helix could be between $1,200 and $1,800. Such pricing could make the new Xbox one of the most expensive models in the gaming console market.

The range in question corresponds to a significantly high level when compared to current high-end consoles. However, it is emphasized that the final price may vary depending on how much of the production costs Microsoft chooses to absorb and the strategy with which it introduces the device to the market.
The report also included information on Microsoft's handheld console plans. It was stated that the company is working on its own handheld console for the 2027 holiday season, and that the $600 Xbox Ally and $1,000 Xbox Ally X models, which were released in October 2025 in collaboration with Asus, are considered early examples of this vision.
There has been no official statement from Microsoft regarding the release date or price of Project Helix. Therefore, it should be kept in mind that the schedule and pricing information regarding the new Xbox are currently at the level of speculation.
