Jeff Bezos sells Amazon shares
Amazon founder Jeff Bezos offloaded 12 million shares of Amazon this week, marking his first sale of company stock since 2021.
According to Bloomberg, the sales took place on Wednesday, February 7, and Thursday, February 8. The stock sale resulted in net proceeds of just over $2 billion.
CASHING IN PLAN
Amazon announced on February 2 that Bezos plans to sell up to 50 million Amazon shares over the next 12 months, potentially cashing in on a stock surge that has brought him closer to becoming the world's wealthiest person.
According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Bezos's wealth has increased by $22.6 billion this year, reaching $199.5 billion as of Friday.
SOLD OVER $30 BILLION IN SHARES
Since records began in 2002, the Amazon founder has sold over $30 billion in shares, including a total of $20 billion in 2020 and 2021.
