Major collaboration between Microsoft and IREN: $9.7 billion cloud and chip deal

Tech giant Microsoft has launched a five-year strategic partnership with IREN, which stands out for its innovation-driven cloud solutions. Within the scope of this partnership, the integration of various Nvidia artificial intelligence chips and support equipment is planned for use at IREN's data center in Texas.

In an announcement from IREN, it was stated that the company would utilize Microsoft's cloud-based infrastructure and also gain access to Nvidia's high-end processors. The total value of the collaboration was announced as approximately $9.7 billion.

Another significant pillar of the agreement is an additional $5.8 billion equipment contract with Dell Technologies. Accordingly, the chips and equipment are targeted to be gradually integrated into IREN's Texas facility throughout 2026.

With this collaboration, Microsoft's cloud services portfolio is expected to strengthen, while IREN's technological capacity in the market is expected to increase significantly. Industry sources believe that the new investment will make a major contribution to the global competition of AI-based cloud services.
