Following the news that the merger could be cancelled, Nissan shares rose by 7.4% and Honda shares by 4.2% on Wednesday.
MERGER OF THE TWO COMPANIES WAS EXPECTED
The merger plan, announced in December, was expected to be finalized in June 2025. If the plan had been realized, the two companies were expected to become the world's third-largest automaker in terms of sales. However, it is stated that Honda is not keen on the idea of making Nissan a subsidiary.
