Mark Zuckerberg’s AI strategy: Aiming for low-cost chip production

It has been reported that tech giant Meta is taking steps to acquire the Korean AI chip startup FuriosaAI.

According to reports in the US press, Meta, led by Mark Zuckerberg, has accelerated its negotiations to bring the AI chip manufacturer FuriosaAI into its fold. The acquisition deal is expected to be completed next month.

FuriosaAI is a startup specializing in developing chips that optimize AI applications, and it launched Warboy in 2021. Additionally, it introduced its advanced accelerator chip, RNGD, in August. It is noted that the RNGD could be used in Meta’s AI models such as Llama 2 and Llama 3.

It is stated that the chips produced by FuriosaAI, founded by former Samsung and AMD engineer June Paik, are manufactured at half the cost compared to Nvidia.

This acquisition move is seen as one of the latest steps in Meta’s growth strategy in the field of artificial intelligence. While experts emphasize that the company aims to gain a foothold in the low-cost chip market, analysts suggest that the deal could bring a 100-dollar increase to Meta’s share value.

Meta announced a 65 billion dollar spending plan for 2025 last month and stated that a significant portion of this budget would be allocated to AI infrastructure.
