Meta accelerates artificial intelligence chip development process
Meta has moved to the testing phase of its self-developed artificial intelligence chip, aiming to reduce its dependence on chip suppliers with this step.
Meta, as the parent company of social media giants, is expanding its investments in the field of artificial intelligence.
The company has begun testing its own proprietary artificial intelligence chip. This move is seen as part of Meta's strategy to reduce its reliance on chip suppliers such as Nvidia. If the tests are successful, Meta plans to move its chips into mass production to achieve cost savings.
Meta's total expenditures for 2025 are expected to be between 114 and 119 billion dollars. A significant portion of this budget, approximately 65 billion dollars, will be allocated to investments in artificial intelligence infrastructure. Nvidia's dominance over artificial intelligence chips is causing prices to rise, and this situation is leading many companies to develop their own chips. This step by Meta is considered a solution against monopolization in the sector.
