Meta activates fake news warnings on Threads: Is it more reliable than its rival X?
Meta has taken a step to prevent fake news on Threads by activating "False Information" warnings. This is seen as part of Meta's goal to become a more reliable platform compared to its rival, X.
Meta announced that it has activated fake news warnings as of today. Threads, which the company developed to provide fact-checking, is preparing to transition to a more reliable stage compared to its rival X.
Threads can be considered a precaution against misinformation spreading ahead of local elections. Meta confirmed that it has begun collaborating with fact-checking organizations against misinformation circulating on Threads following reports regarding the company's verification programs.
However, it is noted that Threads content is not directly disseminated by the verification program. Meta had announced in December that verification partners would be able to directly review and evaluate false content on Threads.
