Microsoft closes security vulnerability used to create fake Taylor Swift images
Microsoft has implemented the necessary updates to prevent the misuse of its Azure Face API. The group responsible for creating explicit images of Taylor Swift and other celebrities was uncovered by Microsoft Designer.
Recently, images created with deepfake technology have caused a widespread stir online. Deepfake technology, which is frequently used in the production of fake pornographic content, has recently sparked controversy regarding images of Taylor Swift created using this method. Swift announced that she would take legal action regarding the matter. The vulnerability used to create such images has now been closed by Microsoft.
The source of the problem was identified in this context, and Microsoft has implemented the necessary updates to the Azure Face API.
The security vulnerability was discovered after a group sharing AI-generated explicit images of women, created by Microsoft Designer, was exposed. It is believed that malicious actors were using the Azure Face API to generate nude photos and videos of Taylor Swift and other celebrities.
The fake images reached millions of users in a short time, and following the backlash, the X platform blocked searches for Taylor Swift. The images, which were also shared on applications such as Facebook and Instagram, have been removed from those platforms as well.
