Minister Uraloğlu Announced: Turkey is switching to 5G!
Turkey has begun the countdown for the transition to 5G technology. According to statements by President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the final stages for the 5G tender have been reached. While tests conducted at various points across the country continue at full speed, an important announcement came from Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu. Minister Uraloğlu announced that Turkey will switch to 5G as of 2026.
Turkey's leading telecommunications companies are focusing on infrastructure work to accelerate the transition process to 5G. The expansion of fiber networks and the installation of new-generation base stations are ongoing.
Türk Telekom has accelerated its efforts to strengthen its 5G infrastructure. Officials stated that the company increased its fiber infrastructure to 437 thousand kilometers as of 2023 and aims to accelerate the process by increasing the number of 5G-compatible base stations.

5G TESTS CONTINUE AT 34 LOCATIONS
5G tests are currently being conducted at 34 different locations in Turkey. These tests, which are mostly carried out in industrial and manufacturing facilities, are of great importance in terms of seeing how 5G technology can be used in different sectors.
Officials emphasize that 5G will accelerate digital transformation in Turkey with its advantages such as high speed, low latency, and wider coverage area.
The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure also states that Turkey wants to prioritize domestic and national solutions in the transition to 5G technology. While it is aimed to increase the usage rate of domestic technologies in Turkey's 5G network, work on this subject continues.
While Turkey is expected to fully transition to 5G in 2026, both the state and the private sector continue their efforts to complete this process in the fastest and most efficient way.
