NASA shares details for the return to the Moon!
NASA has shared what you would see and hear from the lunar spacecraft while traveling at nearly 40 thousand kilometers per hour.
One year after the successful completion of the Artemis 1 mission and its return from the Moon, NASA has shared new footage of what it feels like to sit inside the Orion spacecraft as it returns to Earth.
NASA's Artemis program will use the Orion capsule to transport astronauts from Earth to an orbit near the Moon and return them to the planet once the mission is complete. According to these details reported by Donanımhaber, the capsule will reach a surface temperature of 2,760 degrees during its return journey while traveling at nearly 40 thousand kilometers per hour. This unique experience was recorded both audibly and visually by cameras on the spacecraft.
THESE WILL BE EXPERIENCED WHILE RETURNING FROM THE MOON!
With less than a year until the planned launch of Artemis 2, NASA's mission team has already begun preparing for their historic journey. The Artemis program was planned in stages, and each mission increases the milestones NASA needs to reach. For example, while an uncrewed Orion vehicle flew around the Moon before returning to Earth in Artemis 1, a crewed flight will be conducted in Artemis 2.

NASA recently recorded what the Orion vehicle went through during its return as part of the Artemis 1 mission. Of course, these visual and audio recordings were not collected just to be shared on social media. NASA will use these recordings as simulation data in the ongoing astronaut preparations.
When the Orion vehicle enters the atmosphere, it uses an innovative "skip" maneuver to reduce its speed. This skip maneuver involves Orion entering the atmosphere and then increasing its altitude again before re-entering. This allows the spacecraft to increase its landing precision, improve the performance of its heat shield, and reduce the g-force load that astronauts have to endure while entering Earth's atmosphere.
Orion's maneuver can be seen in the 25-minute return video shared by NASA. Additionally, the burning in the atmosphere and the intense sounds can be clearly seen and heard. It is also understood from the video that Orion makes sharp changes in direction many times as it approaches the ground. You can watch the entire video below.
