Netflix will no longer accept payments through that company
Netflix has decided to completely ban payments made via the App Store. Users in some countries will be required to use a new payment method.
The world's most popular online series and movie platform Netflix has made a notable decision for certain countries.
The company will require users who update their subscriptions via the App Store to use a new payment method. As a result, users will no longer be able to renew their subscriptions through the App Store. So, why did Netflix make such a decision?
RADICAL DECISION FROM NETFLIX
In fact, if you try to subscribe to Netflix today, you already cannot pay via the App Store. The platform removed this option in 2018. However, it appears that some users who subscribed to Netflix before 2018 are still paying through the App Store. Consequently, Netflix has taken a radical decision and wants to end this practice entirely. The announcement made today is exactly about this.
NETFLIX DOES NOT WANT TO PAY COMMISSIONS
The reason Netflix is completely severing its ties with the App Store is the commission it is forced to pay to Apple. Some may know that Netflix pays 15 percent of payments made via the App Store to Apple as a commission. The complete termination of App Store payments will eliminate this situation. The platform will no longer give a share of its profits to Apple.
It is not yet clear which countries Netflix's App Store decision will cover. The statement regarding the matter was shared on Netflix's US website, and the phrase "some countries" was used.
