New camera island claim for Galaxy S27 Ultra: Telephoto lens placement and hardware options in the spotlight

New leaks focusing on the camera design of the Galaxy S27 Ultra, which is expected to be Samsung's new flagship, have emerged. The claims suggest that the device may come with a different camera island on the back panel compared to previous Ultra models.

According to the leaks, Samsung is considering using a wider and more prominent camera platform on the rear surface. This approach has led to comments that the company might move away from the individual lens ring design that has long been a hallmark of the Ultra series. However, the shared information does not yet provide a clear picture regarding the final design.

In one of the latest claims, it is suggested that the telephoto lens is positioned on the left side of the camera island; a microphone hole is located to the right of this lens, with some sensors below it and a circular LED flash at the very bottom. This layout suggests that the module could be moved to a more compact but integrated structure.

CONFLICTING CLAIMS ON CAMERA LAYOUT

Images reportedly shared by the well-known leaker Ice Universe point to a different layout. According to this claim, the telephoto camera is at the very bottom of the module, while the LED flash is located above the telephoto lens. Furthermore, the absence of a microphone hole in these render images indicates that the shared information is still subject to change.

One of the most notable expectations on the camera side is that the Galaxy S27 Ultra might abandon its dual telephoto setup in favor of a single telephoto camera. If this change is confirmed, it is possible that Samsung could open a new chapter in both camera hardware and the design language of the Ultra series.

Some details regarding the hardware have also surfaced in the leaks. Based on certification data, the Galaxy S27 Ultra is expected to come with a 5,700 mAh capacity battery and offer 60W wired fast charging support.

It is suggested that the previous strategy will be maintained for memory and storage options. Accordingly, it is stated that the device could be released with 12 GB RAM and 256 GB storage, 12 GB RAM and 512 GB storage, and 16 GB RAM and 1 TB storage options.
