Apple has added another new feature to its technologies that enhance user experience. The company's "Tap to Pay on iPhone" feature is now available in Belgium, Croatia, Cyprus, Denmark, Greece, Iceland, Luxembourg, and Malta.

With this feature, merchants can use their iPhones directly as payment terminals without the need for additional hardware or a POS device. Contactless payments can be made easily, and PIN entry and accessibility options are also supported.

HOW DOES THE TAP TO PAY FEATURE WORK?

First introduced in the US in February 2022, the Tap to Pay on iPhone system can accept payments made via Apple Pay, contactless cards, and digital wallets. This feature, which works with NFC technology, is compatible with iPhone XS and later models.

The merchant initiates the payment by opening the relevant app on their iPhone and hands the device to the customer. The customer then completes the transaction quickly and easily by tapping their contactless card or digital wallet to the phone. All data is encrypted, and Apple does not have access to transaction details.

WHICH COUNTRIES IS IT AVAILABLE IN?

Belgium: Adyen, Stripe, Viva, SumUp, and others

Denmark: Mollie, Revolut, PayPal (coming soon)

Iceland: Rapyd, Teya (coming soon)

Greece: myPOS, NBG Pay (coming soon)

A full list of all supported countries and platforms has been published on Apple's official website.

Another innovation offered by Apple is the "tap to provision" feature. Thanks to this technology, users can easily add their cards to digital wallets like Apple Wallet by tapping their cards to their phones. This eliminates the need to enter information manually.

This feature will soon be available in 10 countries, including Austria, Croatia, Czechia, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, San Marino, Slovenia, Switzerland, and Vatican City.
