New feature from WhatsApp: File sharing with nearby people will be possible

WhatsApp is introducing a file sharing feature that was spotted in the Android beta version.

FILE SHARING WITH NEARBY PEOPLE

Recently, Google and Samsung improved the built-in Android file sharing feature, Nearby Share, and renamed it Quick Share. This new feature will facilitate file sharing between Android phones and Windows and Chrome OS computers.

According to details reported by WABetaInfo, for the transfer to be successful with the new feature, both users must be in the "People Nearby" section of the app and remain there.

THE COMPANY CONTINUES IMPROVEMENTS

The security layer that is standard in WhatsApp chats, end-to-end encryption, will also be used for these file transfers. To share a file with a nearby WhatsApp user, users will need to select that user on the screen and then shake their phone.

Although this new WhatsApp file sharing feature has arrived in the beta version, it still has some stability issues, and the company continues to work on improvements. It is not yet clear when the feature will be rolled out to all WhatsApp users.
