New move from Amazon: Acquires Bee, a developer of artificial intelligence technology

US-based tech giant Amazon has acquired Bee, a startup that develops AI-powered wearable devices. This acquisition was confirmed by a post on LinkedIn by Bee co-founder Maria de Lourdes Zollo. With this move, Amazon aims to strengthen its presence in the field of artificial intelligence.

Bee offers two different products that record users' conversations and use this data to create reminders and to-do lists. One of these products is a standalone wristband, while the other is an application developed for the Apple Watch. Unless users manually mute the devices, they record all surrounding conversations.

Bee's products were launched with a 50-dollar price tag, appealing to a wide user base. However, the audio and video recording features of such devices also bring up certain concerns regarding security and privacy. Bee states that users can delete their voice recordings whenever they wish and that these recordings are not used for AI training. Nevertheless, the AI functions as an assistant by retaining the data it learns from the user.

Other companies developing similar solutions in the tech world are also drawing attention. While OpenAI works on its own hardware projects, firms like Meta and Apple are also striving to integrate artificial intelligence with wearable technologies. These developments indicate that AI-based devices will become more widespread in the future.
