New warning from Apple; your iPhone may slow down!
Apple warns against the use of counterfeit chargers and cables. What problems does the use of counterfeit Lightning/USB-C charging cables and accessories cause?
Apple is warning consumers against using chargers and cables from other brands. According to Apple, using products from other manufacturers can lead to issues such as slow charging, repeated chime sounds, reduced battery life, and more, especially on devices like the Apple Watch, iPhone, and AirPods.
USE CERTIFIED DEVICES
In a report shared by Donanımhaber, Apple states that consumers should only use iPhone chargers manufactured by Apple or those that are Made for Apple (MFi) certified. Apple also issues a warning regarding original Apple Watch chargers; the support document states, "Chargers not manufactured by Apple may have different colors, text, or other design differences on the charging connector."
Apple has also shared a list of model numbers for all the cables it has produced to date. For example, users can check the manufacturer of their Apple Watch charger via their Mac computers. Once the Apple Watch is connected to the Mac, the Apple Watch charger must be selected under the USB section in the System Settings - General - About - System Report menu. The manufacturer's name will be displayed.
Apple states that users can ensure they are using certified third-party chargers by searching the MFi licensed accessories database.
