Opel doubles its sales
With 73,865 units sold last year, Opel more than doubled its sales compared to 2022, recording growth of over 100 percent in passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, and the total market.
Opel continues to increase its sales performance. With 73,865 units sold in 2023, Opel more than doubled its sales compared to 2022, finishing the year in 6th place with a 6 percent market share.
INCREASED MARKET SHARE
The performance of passenger models was particularly influential in this success, which represents the highest sales volume in the brand's history in the country. In 2023, Opel achieved 61,057 passenger vehicle sales in Turkey.
The brand, which held a 5.12 percent share of the passenger vehicle market with 30,378 units in 2022, increased its total sales by 101 percent, raising its share in the total market to 6.3 percent.
The year 2023 also marked a significant breakthrough for Opel in the commercial vehicle market. Having reached 6,347 units in sales in 2022, Opel increased its performance by 102 percent last year and finished the year with 12,808 commercial vehicle sales. The brand's share in the commercial vehicle market also rose from 3.3 percent to 4.8 percent.
CORSA WAS THE MOST PREFERRED
Opel finished last year as the 4th most preferred brand in the passenger vehicle market.
In the brand's rising sales chart, the Corsa in the B-HB segment drew attention with its effective performance. Finishing 2023 with 20,840 units sold, the Opel Corsa became the leader among imported models in its segment and reached a 14.6 percent market share.
Corsa maintained its 3rd place position among all B-HB models. The brand's ambitious players in the B-SUV market, Mokka and Crossland, also showed rising performance.
Mokka ranked 3rd in its segment with a 10.9 percent share, reaching 15,982 units in sales. Crossland was positioned in second place right behind Mokka with a sales figure of 13,090 units.
With the successful sales figures of both models, Opel stood out as the most preferred brand in the B-SUV market and was recorded as the brand's new record level. Reaching a total of 29,072 B-SUV vehicle sales, Opel captured a 19.1 percent share of the market and also managed to become the 4th most preferred brand in the total SUV market.
"WE HAVE RISEN TO THE POSITION OF THE 3RD COUNTRY WITH THE MOST SALES"
Making evaluations on the subject, Opel Turkey General Manager Yiğit Yantaç stated that they started the year with a sales target of 50,000 units, and upon seeing the rising performance, they revised this target to over 60,000 units during the year.
Emphasizing that the 73,865 units in sales they reached at the end of the year also brought them to the forefront in the global arena, Yantaç said, "With our rising performance, we rose to the position of the 3rd country where the most Opels are sold in 2023, after Germany and England. This success is a great source of pride for Turkey as much as it is for us."
Noting that the performance of Corsa, Mokka, and Crossland contributed significantly to sales, Yantaç added, "Of course, our 102 percent growth in the commercial vehicle market also made a serious contribution.
In particular, the 1,853 units in sales we reached with our Zafira Life model moved this model to second place in its own segment and brought it to a 13.4 percent share. On the other hand, it was remarkable that Combo Life also increased its sales volume by 56 percent compared to the previous year."
"ONE OUT OF EVERY TWO VEHICLES IN THE ELECTRIC B SEGMENT IS AN OPEL"
Yiğit Yantaç underlined that as Opel, they also achieved a remarkable position in the electric vehicle market in 2023, stating that the Electric Corsa and Mokka finished the year with high performance.
Yantaç said, "Corsa Electric reached 1,777 units in sales and became the leader of its segment with a 44.1 percent share. Similarly, Mokka Electric reached a 65.1 percent segment share with 1,757 units in sales in the electric B-SUV segment and became the leader by a wide margin. With both of our models, we finished the year as the leader in the electric B segment with 3,534 units in sales and a 52 percent market share.
In other words, one out of every two vehicles sold in the electric B segment was an Opel brand. We ranked 6th in the total electric market. Our potential in electric vehicles is high. With the full-year performance of Astra Electric, our ambition will continue in 2024."
