OpenAI CEO Altman: The 'genie in a lamp' era of artificial intelligence

Altman stated that artificial intelligence is approaching a transformative threshold, comparing its future capacity to a "genie that can grant any wish."

Sam Altman said that OpenAI is focused not only on developing increasingly advanced AI systems but also on ensuring that these systems are released responsibly and provide benefits to all of society.

Altman told podcast host Ti Morse the following:

"We are getting close to creating a genie that can grant any wish. We will ensure that our first wish benefits humanity on a large scale and transforms the world into a place where many more people can make many more wishes. The limit of what can be wished for is incredibly broad and open to creativity. It will be quite exciting to shape this in line with real human values and preferences."

Sam Altman also said that rapid progress in artificial intelligence could fundamentally change the way people approach difficult problems.

According to Altman, future AI systems will go far beyond answering questions or generating text; they will be able to conduct research independently, analyze massive datasets, and help scientists and engineers make discoveries much faster.
