US-based technology giant Microsoft has added a new feature to the Photos app it developed for the Windows operating system. This AI-powered feature will allow for the removal of a specific object in an image and ensure the deleted area is blended appropriately with the background. This feature will be available on Windows 10 and Windows 11 operating systems.
Microsoft's work on artificial intelligence is bringing significant advancements to photo editing. Having previously added a series of AI features to the Paint and Photos apps, the company has now added another one to these capabilities. However, it should be noted that the AI-powered eraser feature in the Photos app is currently only available to Windows Insider users. Stable version users may have to wait a while longer to access this new feature.
A demo shared by Microsoft shows that the feature can be used quite simply. After opening an image through the Photos app, a user can select the eraser tool and highlight an unwanted section on the image. The feature will automatically clear the selected area and make it match the background image.
