With the new version, Stable Cascade, the company aims to increase the capabilities and efficiency of artificial intelligence.

Stable Cascade is an artificial intelligence model capable of creating images and generating variations of those images. It can also be used to increase the resolution of an existing image. Its other features include editing specific parts of a generated image or creating new images from old ones.

Although the new model is currently available to researchers on GitHub, its commercial use has not yet begun. Stable Cascade also has a structure that provides ideas for companies like Google and even Apple for their own generative AI models for image creation. Technically, it is also quite different. Instead of a single large model, Stable Cascade consists of three different models combined with the Würstchen architecture.

According to the statement from Stability AI, prompts are broken down into smaller pieces in this system. This allows the artificial intelligence to both follow prompts better and require less processing power. While the SDXL model (the current model) generates an image in 22 seconds, this time is reduced to 10 seconds with the new model.
