Robotic dog to assist Alzheimer's patients: Draws attention with its cuteness without requiring care!

A robotic dog has been developed in the US for Alzheimer's and dementia patients. The robotic dog, named Jeanie, was designed for people who need the companionship of a pet but are unable to provide the necessary care. Jeanie does not require care like a real dog, yet its cuteness is almost on par with a real one.

Inspired by Labrador retrievers, Jeanie was specifically designed for dementia and Alzheimer's patients. Designer Tom Stevens states that he decided to develop Jeanie after his mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in 2011.

Jeanie can respond to touch and voice commands and can wag its tail. It is planned to be offered for sale for 2,500 dollars later this year, and renting it to nursing homes is also among the options.
