Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 screen passes military durability test!

Samsung's 7-inch foldable screen used in the Galaxy Z Fold 5 has successfully passed the US Department of Defense's rigorous MIL-STD-810G military durability test. This means Samsung has received yet another certification proving the durability of its foldable screens.

According to the report by Donanımhaber citing The Elec, the company's 7-inch foldable panel passed the US Department of Defense's MIL-STD 810G military standard tests. This is a remarkable achievement for Samsung, especially considering that foldable device screens are generally perceived to have lower durability compared to flat panels.

During the test, the foldable panel continued to function normally even after being sprayed with water in a -10 degrees Celsius environment, freezing the exterior of the panel with 6 mm of ice, and maintaining this state for 4 hours. Furthermore, the device experienced no performance issues during a test where it was subjected to temperatures between -32 degrees Celsius and +63 degrees Celsius for two hours, with these sudden temperature changes repeated three times over 12 hours.

PASSED THE TOUGHEST TESTS

In the shock test, a total of 26 trials were conducted, simulating drops from a height of 1.22 meters, which is the height from which users typically use their phones. A Samsung official emphasized that the product did not experience any issues during outdoor activities in these tests, which included the most challenging parts of the MilSpec standard, such as the gravity acceleration test.

The 7-inch foldable panel that passed Samsung's military durability test is currently used in the Galaxy Z Fold 5, and the South Korean company will likely feature the same screen technology in the Galaxy Z Fold 6, which it plans to launch in the coming months.
