Science at 12 Guest Dr. Alp Sirman: 'We suffer to make ourselves liked'
Science writer Dr. Alp Sirman, this week's guest on the Science at 12 program, analyzed male-female relationships from a neuroscientific perspective with Begüm Oktay. Sirman stated, "Men's intelligence drops when they encounter women."
The Science at 12 program, hosted by Begüm Oktay, aired this week. Science writer Dr. Alp Sirman, who was a guest on the program, evaluated male-female relationships from a neuroscientific perspective.
Oktay noted in his remarks that men experience a drop in intelligence levels after seeing women, stating, "All women have known very well since the age of 10 that when they take a look at a man, there is a 20 percent drop in his intelligence level. If we don't act smarter, we can do a lot of crazy things to show ourselves better. To explain ourselves better, to show that we are strong. The truth is, we suffer to make ourselves liked, at least until we are together."
"When a man has high testosterone and also dopamine, there is a situation where he tries to show himself as much better than he is to impress the woman. When they get together, the man's testosterone drops and the woman's oxytocin rises. The woman's social filter rises. She starts to see him differently than he is," he said.
DO WOMEN LIKE MACHO MEN?
Sirman also answered the frequently discussed question in male-female relationships: 'Do women like macho men?' Sirman stated the following:
"Women do not like macho men. Because the chances of macho men getting themselves killed are very high. The attractive ones are those who solve problems without issues. In nature, the types we call macho men or alpha males are the most compassionate ones."
THE EFFECT OF SOCIAL MEDIA ON WOMEN'S CHOICES
Sirman expressed that women experience choice anxiety due to social media as follows: "There is a lot of choice anxiety in women. You were very hungry. You went to the cafeteria, there was a set menu, you ate, you are happy. You are hungry again, you went to an open buffet, you are unhappy because you don't know which one to eat. This is called choice anxiety. There is such a situation in women due to social media. It led to a bad result in one respect. It caused a two-dimensional relationship. In real selection, scent is very important. I am not talking about smelling bad or clean. HLA chromosomes are different in people with genetic structures that are distant from each other. Women find people who are genetically distant from them more attractive."
AFFECTS BY 60 PERCENT
Stating that kissing has a 60 percent effect on the continuation of a relationship, Sirman concluded his sentences as follows:
"The biggest problem in relationships is that the devaluation of the relationship can lead to violence. The tendency for violence does not stem only from this. If you make a society crowded and do not increase resources, the tendency for violence increases. There is an economy under violence, there are wrong policies."
