Scientists in India discover mushroom sprouting from frog's leg
Scientists in India have found a mushroom sprouting on the tissue of a living animal.
According to a report by The Independent, scientists from the World Wide Fund for Nature have identified a mushroom growing on the leg of a living frog for the first time.
Stating that a mushroom growing on a living organism had never been documented before, the scientists noted that the frog's habitat may have provided sufficient moisture and organic matter, creating an ideal environment for the mushroom to grow.
It is estimated that the mushroom sprouting on the leg of the Rao's intermediate golden-backed frog is of the "Bonnet" type.
The details of the research were published in the journal "Reptiles and Amphibians".
