Security vulnerability detected in Google Chrome! Experts issue 'Update immediately' warning

While Google Chrome is known as the most preferred internet browser in the world, it has faced its first actively exploited "zero-day" security vulnerability in 2026. According to information shared by the company, this vulnerability, listed under the code CVE-2026-2441, began to be exploited by attackers before the software was patched.

Such "zero-day" vulnerabilities are among the most dangerous cybersecurity threats because they allow attackers to infiltrate systems before developers can create a defense.

Discovered on February 11 and patched with an emergency code, this vulnerability allowed hackers to execute malicious code on user systems without authorization. This means that malware could be installed on affected devices without being noticed.

WHICH VERSIONS ARE AT RISK?

The company has warned users by releasing Chrome versions that fix the security vulnerability. If you are using a version below the minimum versions specified below, keep in mind that you are at risk:

  • Windows and Mac: 145.0.7632.75 or 145.0.7632.76
  • Linux: 144.0.7559.75

Older versions remain open to potential attacks.

HOW TO UPDATE?

Although Chrome often updates itself automatically, experts drawing attention to the importance of this update recommend checking the version manually. For your own security, you can follow these steps:

  • Click on the three dots in the top right corner of the browser.
  • Go to the "Help" section.
  • Open the "About Google Chrome" option.
  • The update will be checked and started automatically here.
  • Finally, restart the browser for the changes to take effect.

This process usually takes only a few minutes and contributes to protecting your device against a significant cyber threat.

EXPERTS: DO NOT DELAY THE UPDATE

Experts working in the field of cybersecurity warn that actively exploited zero-day vulnerabilities can cause major damage in a very short time. They state that Chrome should be updated quickly on both individual and corporate computers, as well as on devices containing sensitive personal data. It is emphasized that this timely update can prevent the risk from escalating.
