Skin cancer detection is now easier with artificial intelligence

The artificial intelligence-powered skin cancer detection device developed by the company DermaSensor has received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) with high accuracy rates.

This AI-powered device, developed by the Miami-based company, features a practical design.

The goal of this device is to assist physicians, particularly those working in primary care, in detecting skin cancer. With the use of the device, it is intended that patients diagnosed with skin cancer be referred to more specialized dermatology and oncology services.

The FDA approval is based on the device's 96% sensitivity in detecting skin cancers. Additionally, the rate of benign results for negative findings was determined to be 97%.

It was noted that the device is used commercially in Australia and Europe, and it was shared that the device has a subscription-based pricing system. A pricing of $199 per month includes usage for five patients, while there is a $399 monthly subscription model for unlimited use.
