Competition in the field of artificial intelligence in China has accelerated. The success achieved by DeepSeek in a short time has prompted tech giants to take action.
Tencent Holdings’ artificial intelligence chatbot, Yuanbao, surpassed DeepSeek this week to become the most downloaded iPhone app in China. While AI bots account for three of the five most popular free apps in the country, ByteDance’s Doubao app ranked third behind Tencent and DeepSeek.
Alibaba, meanwhile, announced that it has invested 53 billion dollars in the field of artificial intelligence. Experts state that these developments highlight the current state of competition in the country.
The WeChat platform, which has more than 1.4 billion users and belongs to the world's largest game distributor Tencent, plays a significant role in the company's rise in the AI race. It is considered that Tencent may have risen to a leading position in the sector with the support it receives from its other applications.
