Tesla employee dies in car crash

It has been revealed that in a tragic incident that occurred in 2022, Tesla employee Hans von Ohain, who worked in human resources, lost his life. While on his way to play golf with his friend Erik Rossiter, von Ohain had engaged the Tesla Model 3's autonomous mode, which was still in its beta phase, while driving. After a short time, the car veered off the road, struck a tree, and caught fire, resulting in von Ohain's death.

IT WAS REVEALED HE WAS UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL

Erik Rossiter, who survived the crash, claimed that although von Ohain was under the influence of alcohol while driving, he was quite calm and there was no situation that would have caused an accident. However, the fact that steering control is required even when using autonomous mode suggests that alcohol consumption could have contributed to such an accident. An autopsy performed on von Ohain also revealed that his blood alcohol level was exactly 3 times the normal limit.

CLAIMS REGARDING THE ACCIDENT

However, if Rossiter's claims are true and von Ohain was not at fault while driving, then the Tesla employee would go down in history as the first victim of the company's highest-level autonomous driving system. Rossiter stated that he did not fully remember what happened during the accident, only that he tried to pull his friend from the burning car and then found himself in the hospital.

The Colorado Police Department, while identifying alcohol consumption as the primary factor in the incident, announced that they could launch an investigation into the Tesla Model 3's autonomous driving feature.
