This law prohibits the use of easily guessable passwords such as "12345" on internet-connected devices. The Department for Science, Innovation and Technology announced that this law would come into effect as of Monday to protect consumers from hacking and cyberattacks.

According to the report in Sözcü, the new regulations mandate that manufacturers of phones, televisions, and smart doorbells legally protect their devices against access by cybercriminals. Manufacturers will be required to create unique passwords for their devices or allow users to set their own passwords. Additionally, manufacturers are expected to provide information on how to notify consumers in the event of any security issue and to establish the necessary communication channels.
