The AI era in Renault models: Google Gemini begins speaking Turkish!
Google's next-generation AI assistant, Gemini, is hitting the road in Renault models equipped with the "openR link" infotainment system, now with Turkish language support. The system, which is being rolled out gradually via over-the-air (OTA) updates, allows drivers to communicate with their vehicles in a completely natural and intuitive way.
Google's AI assistant, Gemini, has begun to be rolled out gradually in Renault models equipped with the "openR link" infotainment system, now featuring Turkish language support. The over-the-air (OTA) update process has been activated for compatible vehicles.
The integration process for Gemini was launched on June 15 in the markets where Renault operates.
Operational details regarding the update are as follows:
Free and Optional: The update is not subject to any additional fees for users and does not affect existing connected services subscription periods.
Activation: Users who sign in with their Google accounts can activate the system via the in-vehicle central display.
Switching Capability: Users can switch between the new-generation Gemini and the classic Google Assistant at any time according to their preference.

SYSTEM FEATURES AND VEHICLE INTEGRATION
Unlike phone mirroring applications, Gemini is integrated directly into the openR link system and works in conjunction with the vehicle's hardware features and the Google ecosystem.
Control of Vehicle Functions: Air conditioning, navigation, radio, and general vehicle settings can be controlled via voice commands.
Data Analysis: Route planning can be performed using range and battery data from electric vehicles.
Natural Language Processing: Users can perform operations using natural spoken language without being tied to specific command patterns. The system can respond to conditional navigation requests such as "Take me to Kadıköy but don't use the ring road" or general knowledge questions.
FUTURE UPDATES AND LANGUAGE SUPPORT
The AI assistant supports a total of 13 languages in the initial phase, including Turkish. These languages include widely spoken ones such as English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish.
With the Gemini Live feature to be added to the system in the future, it is planned that users will be able to speak without repeating the trigger word ("Hey Google") for every command, interrupt the assistant to give new commands, and switch between different languages within the same conversation.
