The 'secret code' era on WhatsApp
The major messaging platform WhatsApp has announced an important update to its chat lock feature. This innovation will ensure that locked chats are even more secure.
In recent months, WhatsApp introduced a feature to the application that would be very useful for users regarding privacy. This feature, called "Chat Lock," allowed us to lock the chats we wanted. To unlock them, things like Face ID, a password, or a fingerprint were required.
Secret codes, as you can understand from the name, allow you to add custom codes that you create specifically for locked chats. The platform describes the feature as "an extra way to protect your locked chats and make them harder to find if someone has access to your phone or if you share your phone with someone else."
IT WILL BE DIFFERENT FROM THE PHONE PASSWORD
Secret codes, which will add an extra layer of privacy to locked chats, will be independent of your phone's own password. This means you will be able to use both this code and the security method you use to enter the chat. Thus, you will have added a two-step security layer.
You will also be able to hide the locked chats folder from the chat list. The secret code will allow you to access the chats you have locked only through the search bar. It will be possible to access the chats when this code is searched. From the screenshot, we can see that letters, numbers, and even emojis can be used in the secret code.
