Threads is temporarily shutting down in Turkey!
Meta's text-based social media platform, Threads, will temporarily suspend its operations in Turkey as of April 29, in compliance with an interim order from the Turkish Competition Authority.
It has been announced that Meta’s text-based social media platform Threads will temporarily suspend its operations in Turkey as of April 29, in compliance with an interim order from the Competition Authority. It was announced that the Threads platform, which Meta developed as an alternative to Twitter, will be closed to access for users in Turkey.
It was stated that this step was taken in accordance with the daily administrative fine of 4.8 million TL imposed on Meta Platforms by the Competition Authority last month, as well as the interim injunction decision aimed at blocking the data transfer mechanism between Instagram and Threads.
Furthermore, the statement clarified that this situation will not affect Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, or other Meta applications operating in Turkey.
