Turkey's leading travel platform ENUYGUN has announced its 2024 travel trends, and the data reveals remarkable tendencies in both domestic and international travel. From flights stretching from Istanbul to Izmir to bus journeys to Berlin, this year's travel report card was quite active. According to ENUYGUN's data, the most preferred domestic flight route in 2024 was Istanbul-Izmir. It was followed by the Antalya-Istanbul and Adana-Istanbul routes. In international travel, Baku and Dubai took the top spots. An interesting detail was that the cheapest flight ticket of the year was sold for just 537 TL on the Konya-Istanbul route, while the most expensive ticket was sold for a full 380,000 TL from Istanbul to the city of Taizhou in China.

It was announced that 78 percent of those who purchased flight tickets preferred to travel alone, and the 25-35 age group accounted for 35 percent of these journeys. Additionally, it was noted that ENUYGUN sold enough tickets in 2024 to fill a full 71,416 planes.

ANKARA LEADS IN BUS TRAVEL

While the favorite route for bus travel in 2024 was Ankara-Istanbul, the Izmir-Istanbul and Ankara-Izmir routes also vied for the top spot. While the cheapest bus ticket was sold for 1 TL on the Adana-Şanlıurfa route, the most expensive ticket found a buyer for a full 5,950 TL on the Istanbul-Berlin route. Ankara maintained its clear leadership in bus travel, becoming Turkey's capital of bus travel.

ISTANBUL AND ANTALYA LEAD IN HOTEL RESERVATIONS

The most preferred cities for hotel reservations in Turkey this year were Istanbul, Antalya, and Ankara. In international hotel reservations, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), Dubai, and Baku were popular. According to the data, the most expensive hotel reservation broke a record at 507,918 TL, while the most affordable reservation was made for only 91 TL. While double-occupancy stays were preferred at a rate of 63 percent, the rate of family stays remained at 13 percent.

FAVORITE POINT FOR CAR RENTALS: IZMIR ADNAN MENDERES AIRPORT

In car rental data, Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport was the location where the most vehicles were rented in 2024. It was followed by Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport and Istanbul Airport. Izmir's leadership in this field shows that it was a favorite for both domestic and foreign tourists throughout the year. Another notable detail was that 38 percent of car rentals were short-term, meaning 1-2 days.
