VOITERM, a technology company, has successfully designed Turkey's first closed-circuit electronic voting system.

Every election period in Turkey is marked by significant controversy. In almost every election, participating parties occupy the agenda with allegations that votes have been stolen. However, such debates rarely change the results. Some believe that these types of disputes could only be ended by electronic voting systems. It has been noted that Supreme Election Council (YSK) Chairman Ahmet Yener is among those who share this view.

According to a report by Eray Kalelioğlu from Webtekno, this development reveals that a system capable of transitioning Turkey to electronic voting may now be ready. According to a statement made by the technology development company "VOITERM," Turkey's first closed-circuit electronic voting system is ready for use.

WHO VOTED FOR WHOM WILL NOT BE VISIBLE

The electronic voting system, which emerged as a result of R&D efforts by Turkish engineers, can be described as a simple kiosk. A citizen can go to this kiosk and cast a vote by scanning a barcode containing information such as their ID number. The cast vote is recorded to the account of the relevant candidate. It was stated that because the system uses cryptographic methods to encrypt voting information, it is impossible for anyone to see who voted for whom.

PAPER COSTS WILL DECREASE

The electronic voting technology developed by VOITERM has the potential to prevent duplicate voting while reducing paper costs. Furthermore, the electronic voting system speeds up the voting and counting processes. It was emphasized that this system would also eliminate the problem of invalid votes.

FROM TRADITIONAL TO DIGITAL

VOITERM Founder and General Manager Cengiz Pişirici stated in his announcement that they have developed a more advanced version of the secure election application used in the USA as a result of the R&D efforts of Turkish engineers. He expressed that a simple, fast, and reliable voting process is provided through the barcode scanning method. He emphasized that the voter is directed to the candidate selection screen by scanning their barcode, and the vote cast is recorded both on the device and on a digital server. He noted that while duplicate votes are prevented, election and voter security are ensured through cryptographic encryption algorithms. He said that as VOITERM, they are fully prepared for Turkey's first digital election infrastructure and expressed their excitement to contribute to the process of moving the traditional election system to a digital environment, considering the economic and environmental costs.
