Warner Bros. Discovery acquires BluTV

The announcement follows a three-year comprehensive partnership that began in 2021 when discovery+ launched on BluTV and Discovery Inc. became a 35 percent shareholder in BluTV. The partnership, which included an option for further investment in BluTV, has resulted in the acquisition of the entire company.

"WE ARE EXCITED FOR THE PERIOD AHEAD"

Jamie Cook, General Manager of Warner Bros. Discovery for CEE, MENA, and Turkey, stated, "We are excited for the period ahead. Turkey has been an important investment area for us for over 20 years, and the acquisition of BluTV adds the country's first local subscription-based video platform to our portfolio. The combination of compelling Turkish content with the wide range of Warner Bros. Discovery's best international series and programs offers a unique formula for achieving success locally. Together, we are offering the most attractive viewing experience to Turkish audiences while simultaneously expanding access to Turkish content globally."

WHAT WILL THE COMPANY DO?

BluTV CEO Deniz Şaşmaz Oflaz commented, "As BluTV, we are very happy that our strategic partnership with Discovery Inc., which began in 2021, has resulted in us becoming one of the Warner Bros. Discovery brands today. As Turkey's leading local subscription-based video platform, we are proud that our steady rise since day one has made us part of one of the world's largest media companies. Moving forward, we will blend the best local stories we have offered our viewers to date with the world's best foreign content to create Turkey's most powerful digital platform library and bring our most successful local stories to the world."
