WhatsApp brings back 'view once' media feature to Web and Desktop versions

WhatsApp Web and Desktop versions have brought back the 'view once' media feature.

According to a report by Emirhan Keleşoğlu from Webtekno, when we look at chat applications that constantly compete with each other to increase user satisfaction, we see that Telegram and WhatsApp are the most preferred. These two platforms compete not only on mobile but also on other platforms. It was noted that WhatsApp seemed to lag behind its competitor, especially with its desktop version.

The reason for this was that the application could not be used independently of the phone, was generally sluggish, had data transfer issues, and other similar problems. Recently, the company, which has developed a quite successful application by overcoming these obstacles, has reactivated the feature that will lighten the load on users.

For those who are not familiar with this feature, we can summarize it as follows: When someone sent you media that could be viewed only once, WhatsApp's desktop and web versions did not allow you to view this media. When you checked the message, it stated that you needed to switch to your mobile device to open the image.

Therefore, while using WhatsApp on a computer, you had to open your phone again and could only view the image that way. Especially in non-essential situations, this could cause an unnecessary waste of time. It has been noted that, as you can see from the screenshot above, it is now possible to send and view such images again.

All you need to do for this is to enable the "1" logo to the left of the text before sending the media you want. This feature is currently being rolled out to users using the latest version of WhatsApp Web and Desktop. It was also stated that it is important to mention that macOS users will also benefit from the same update.
